Carolyn A. Eberly is an accomplished educator and health information management professional with over two decades of experience in higher education and healthcare leadership. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Health Information Management Program at Coppin State University, where she specializes in curriculum development aligned with Quality Matters standards, student advising, and practicum coordination.
Dr. Eberly is pursuing her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership with a focus on Health Care Educational Leadership at Frostburg State University. She holds a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Management from Kaplan University, graduating Summa Cum Laude and Cum Laude, respectively, and an Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Technology from Hagerstown Business College.
Her career spans roles as Program Director, Curriculum Development Coordinator, and Faculty Chair, where she has led initiatives in online education, accreditation compliance, and instructional design. Carolyn has authored multiple online programs, including Health Information Management and Medical Billing and Coding, and contributed as a subject matter expert for accreditation reviews and curriculum development projects nationwide.
She is a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), a Certified Higher Education Professional (CHEP) in online learning, and a Quality Matters Peer Reviewer. Carolyn is an active member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and has served on AHIMA’s Council for Excellence in Education workgroups. Her professional contributions include textbook reviews, conference presentations, and the development of specialized certificate programs.
Recognized for her dedication to teaching and student success, Carolyn received the Teacher of the Year Award from Kaplan College in 2008. She continues to advance health information education through leadership, innovation, and collaboration.
